Paulina is a DJane, born in Berlin and spins at festivals, clubs and raves of all kinds between Ibiza, Malta and Amsterdam. The trained doctor and passionate karaoke singer told us what her balance to the hustle and bustle is, that order is becoming increasingly important to her and which record means the most to her.
You dash off to a different city every weekend - what exactly do you do?
I am a musician, DJ and producer of electronic music under the name "DJ Gigola" and part of the artist collective "Live From Earth".
What role does your home in Berlin play in this tight program?
I enjoy all the being on the road. To stay fresh when sleep deprived and touring, I need a quiet home where I can relax and unwind. I take great pleasure in finding furniture, pictures and curiosities that fit into this atmosphere.
What convinced you to integrate a shelf from stocubo into your home?
I immediately liked the simple design and the diversity with which you can individually assemble the shelf. And the possibility of being able to expand and rebuild it again and again to adapt it to new room conditions - of course I can use that well with my job and the constantly growing record collection.
"Music is very special, as certain records are like a soundtrack for certain phases in my life. A special record for me is the test pressing of "Tender Trance". My first release EP that will always have a permanent place on my shelf."
Are there any specific requirements for your equipment on the shelf?
It needs to be the right height so that everything is conveniently accessible and the height from the desk fits. In addition, DJ equipment tends to be a bit wider than the usual sideboards. So of course I was particularly happy about the option of the "HiFi shelf support" at Stocubo - it has just the right depth.
Add to that technical accessories and my records - since I don't want to see exposed cables, hard drives, etc., I was looking for a solution that offered a lot of "hidden" storage space, which was great to solve with doors and drawers here. In addition, there are different shelf heights, which is extremely convenient, because you can choose the appropriate size according to the format and size of the record.
What is the most valuable piece on your stocubo shelf?
In principle, I'm attached to all my records, as well as to the Technics turntables that have been with me for a long time. Music is very special, as certain records are like a soundtrack for certain phases in my life. A special record for me is the test pressing of "Tender Trance". My first release EP, which will always have a permanent place on my shelf.
