Frequently asked questions about our living room shelves

How do I build my living room shelf from stocubo?

It only takes a moment! First, lay the base plates on the floor and align them with the spirit level. Stack the individual modules on top and fix them with the connecting clips (from the front or from behind). Voilà - your new living room shelf is already assembled! The assembly is so quick that many of our customers take the time to try out different ways of assembling it.

Do I need to fix my living room shelf to the wall?

If you're using cubes with full depth and if the base plates are well aligned, fixing it to the wall is usually not necessary. For particularly high upright shelves placed on sloping or uneven flooring, we recommend you to additionally fixed it to the wall. You can use L-brackets available in hardware stores for this. Together with our connecting brackets and, if required, additional anti-slip pads, this provides additional stability. Free-hanging shelves can also be attached with our wall suspension.

What fits in which cube?

Our 1:1 cubes are ideal for larger, bound books, for example biographies, atlases, illustrated books or magazines and journals. There is also enough room for file folders and records. Outer dimensions: 35.6 x 35.6 x 35.6 centimeters, inner dimensions: 33.2 x 33.2 x 33 centimeters.

In our 2:3 cubes paperbacks and DVDs fit perfectly. Outer dimensions: 35.6 x 23.7 x 35.6 centimeters, inner dimensions: 33.2 x 21.3 x 33 centimeters.

The 1:2 cube can hold notebooks or CDs. Outer dimensions: 35.6 x 17.8 x 35.6 centimeters, inner dimensions: 33.2 x 15.4 x 33 centimeters. Upright, this cube is again well suited for magazines and journals.

Do I need base plates for my living room shelf?

It all depends on the condition of your floor. We recommend base plates with adjustable feet especially for old apartments and for all rooms where the floor is not completely flat. This applies both to the classic shelf wall and to room dividers and larger chests of drawers. In addition, base plates are required if modules with doors are used in the lower row. You can easily plan how to use base plates in the online configurator.

What alternatives are there to the traditional shelf wall?

There are as many alternatives as there are stocubo-customer:inside! For example, a wall of shelves can be reinterpreted into a hanging wall shelf. But you can also opt for a rolling shelf, a combination of different chests of drawers or a cubist coffee table with plenty of storage space. Or picture this: how about a staircase-shaped shelving system? Whichever way you want to go, at stocubo you can create the furniture you want for yourself.

Are the shelves from stocubo sustainable?

We rely on high-quality material, more precisely: on break- and bend-resistant MDF from PEFC-certified European forests. From this we build shelves in a very detail-oriented and low-emission manufacturing process. We also work with climate-neutral shipping companies.
